How can you tell the adult size of a puppy?
I am loking into adopting a puppy… it ais a 5-6 week old chihuahua mix, right now it is a pound and a half. I’m just worried about it being a lot bigger than my cat. Is this usual size for a small chihuahua mix? I’m hoping for somewhere between 5-8 lbs.
It looks all chihuahua, one of the litter is longhaired. The feet are small
The coloring is those littel racoon eyes, they rangre from blakcand white (think border collie colors ) to cream and white
Not truly possible to say for sure. Chihuahuas (according to the AKC breed standard) are not to exceed 6 pounds in weight at fully developed adulthood. However, I’ve seen Chihuahuas well over that weight due to less than ideal genetics/breeding/ etc. It also depends on what the pup is mixed WITH. If it’s another toy breed, you should be safe. However, I’ve seen Chihuahuas mixed with some larger breeds and the pups exceed 15 pounds!
