Where can I find my missing table leg?

My mother bought me a beautiful dining room set for Christmas at a salvage store. Nobody thought to check the boxes, and it turns out that we’re missing the center column / pedestal that holds the table up. The discount store has *no idea* what we’re talking about. There’s no name on the boxes, other than “K/O Furniture”, which I have searched for, but found nothing. It was made in the Dominican Republic. Please help!

I doubt you will be able to find one from the original manufacturer because it was salvage. But, don’t despair, you have many options to solve the problem. First, check out thrift, goodwill or salvation army stores to see whether they have an inexpensive table with a pedastal that is the height your table requires and somewhat matches the style of the table. You may be pleasantly surprised. If nothing suits your fancy, call around to furniture refinishers. They have catalogs of legs, endcaps, and all other kinds of pieces for furniture that may need replacing when they are restoring or refinishing furniture. I’ve found replacement legs through them for all kinds of furniture, but they do come unfinished. So, you will have to finish it yourself or pay to have them do it. Your other option is to find a plaster pedestal and faux finish it to coordinate with the set. Plaster pedestals are very inexpensive and you can float the table on the pedestal. You can find them at craft stores and plaster wholesalers (like in LA Florentine Art Studios in El Monte, they have a website). I opted to do this for an antique table for which I could not find an appropriate base. Lastly, check out woodworkers or your local community college wordworking shop. You can have one custom made, but it is way cheaper to get the school on the project than it is to pay a woodworker.
