Decorating Ideas for a Cape Cod style home? Please help!?

When I think of a Cape Cod feel, I think of Nantucket and water. In decorating I would use soft overstuffed furniture in a neutral palette which gives the freedom to punch up with color in blues and greens. I think of white furniture, natural floors, baskets for storage, sea shells, fish, sand and sea glass in soft blues and greens…light and airy, light pastel colors and prints.
Close your eyes and use what you see when you think of the beach. Checked and floral fabrics with white furniture and other woven fabrics would be something I would use. Think simple in the artwork pulling in those soft colors. You could go to a second hand store and pick up apothecary jars in random shapes and sizes. Fill one with sea glass that you can purchase from a craft store, another with shells, and another with sand. You can fill a larger one with sea grass. Speaking of sea grass, I would consider and area rug made of that or a sisal. Or, even try a needlepoint rug.
You could add one focal wall of clap board that has been distressed which can add depth and color and provide a crisp contrast to a pale blue color.
Personally I am not a fan of blue in a kitchen so I would choose a yellow (for a low lit room) because it is stimulating but if the kitchen receives a lot of sunlight already, then I may choose to use a green or neutral sand color. Coordinate this with your flooring, counter top and dinnerware.
In the bathroom, I think I would stay neutral as colors cast off onto your complexion. Or, maybe something in a pastel peachy tone.
