Is it okay to mix different wood finishes in a room? Very dark wood furniture with light maple cabinets?

I want to get this large TV media console that is a wenge finish (very dark brown), but it will sit right next to a built-in cabinet that is a very light maple. All of the other cabinetry in the attatched kitchen is also a light maple. Is this okay in the do’s and don’ts of home decorating? ~Thanks!

I think mixing wood finishes adds more interest as long as there are things that tie them together, such as cushions that compliment both tones and etc. Good luck!
