What is an easy way to stain a hope chest?

I am thinking about staining my hope chest . . . of course, there is a right way and a wrong way . . . . do you have any pointers for me?

Staining is the easy part. Choose the color you like, to do it really easy go with a color close to what it already is, lightly sand it and apply the stain.There are a variety of new colors to choose from these days and blending a favorite color over a wood stain is an option too. Clear coating is where people tend to make things ugly. The best clear coat I’ve found is available in an aerosol can, spray it on in thin coats (outside on some newspaper when it’s not raining-lol) Have Fun!
