I have 4 file carts full of files and want to upgrade, but don’t want to buy filing cabinets. Any Suggestion?

I’m assuming you don’t want to buy the filing cabinets because they’re so expensive?

There are a lot of ways to get used filing cabinets. Businesses get rid of them all the time but they always buy new ones, not used. So it’s resale or scrap.

First, I’d suggest craigslist. They sometimes have free ones, and always used ones for sale in all different sizes/shapes. Just go to the craigslist for your town or area and search for “file cabinet” or look in each of these sections: free, furniture, business and general.

Next, many towns will have used office furniture stores. You’ll probably pay a little more, but maybe not. Either way you’ll still be paying a LOT less than new.

Finally, if you hear about a company moving or going out of business, call and ask if they have any cabinets you can have or buy cheap.

A coat of spray paint will cover up any blemishes, but even without, it’ll probably still look a lot nicer than your carts of files.
