Is there any way to get rid of the shine that is on bycast leather products?

I bought a bycast leather sectional sofa, they told me the shine will wear down. Is there anyway to speed this process up so it’s not so shiny??? She said to clean it with murphys oil soap, will that take the shine down? Thanks for any insight… Another question is Bycast really considered to be leather? I read a few countries will not allow bycast leather to be called “leather” because it’s more manmade product then cowhide… Any thoughts?
