should still tip a server 20% if you get the buffet and get the food yourself.?

And the server just brings you a coke. was a truck driver and got the buffet alot of the time. I always left a tip but not as much as I would if the server brought my food. was I wrong?

Though the server would like 20%, I think 10-12% is more customary at buffets. Most servers are given more tables in a buffet setting than in a regular meal service (because they have less to do and can handle more customers) so they should end up making the same amount of money.

If, however, you run the server ragged asking for drink refills and bread baskets etc you should probably tip at least 15%
