Black wrought Iron railings or vinyl railings?

In a new construction home, the builder has installed vinyl railings with the front porch, although the specifications of the house indicate that black wrought iron railings should have been installed. My question is, which one would look better with a front porch, and in terms of pricing, is the vinyl cheaper than the iron?

Wrought iron is more expensive. I gravitate toward it because I love having things that not everybody has … most people would have vinyl because it’s builder’s grade … wrought iron can give a more ‘high end’ look to spaces.

Consider your own taste, though. If vinyl is okay by you, make sure you’re not paying extra for something you’re not getting. If you prefer the look of the iron, insist that it be swapped out.
