Ok to finish an attic with bead-board or paneling?

We live in a 100 year old house and would like to finish the attic for extra storage space. Do we have to use drywall? Just wondered about fire codes and such.

Since its just going to be for storage I don’t believe anything would be required. I would make sure you insulate it.
Some things to consider are.

Drywall can be more labor intensive compared to paneling for a DIY project.
Bead-board may fit the age of the house better.
Which materials are going to be easier to get to the attic.

You can always call your local building code enforcement office and ask them.
